About this coffee

What the roaster tells us.

Cooper’s Cask ages green coffee in used spirit barrels for weeks before roasting, so the beans pick up the spirit and the wood while the alcohol roasts off. This set pairs four single origins with four barrels: bourbon Colombia, malt whiskey Sumatra, rye whiskey Ethiopia and rum barrel Rwanda. It’s rated 4.6 stars from over a thousand Amazon reviews, and it makes a standout gift.

The people behind this coffee

Meet Cooper's Cask Coffee

Cooper's Cask Coffee began in 2014, when coworkers John Speights and Jason Maranhao tried a barrel-aged coffee that disappointed them and decided to do it better. With an empty whiskey barrel from a friend's distillery they started experimenting, and by 2016 the business was up and running in East Greenwich, Rhode Island. Green coffee rests in used bourbon, whiskey or rum barrels for about a month, soaking up the spirit and the oak, and roasting drives off the alcohol while keeping the flavor.
